A Masterclass with Blake Hinson, Asst. Principal Bass of The New York Philharmonic

ESME and the Aquinas College Music Department are excited to present a free string masterclass on April 8th offered to string students of West Michigan led by the New York Philharmonic Assistant Principal Bass, Blake Hinson and held at the Aquinas College Art and Music Center in Grand Rapids, MI. Student participants were selected via an audition process from a pool of West Michigan violin, viola, cello, and doublebass players in grades 6-12 and college. Blake's string masterclass (which has covered solo, chamber and orchestral repertoire and orchestral playing as well as string fundamentals and technique workshops) has been sought after in high demand and conducted at institutions all over the world including the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Guildhall School of Toronto and at Fredonia University in New York. This masterclass is a free event to attend and open to the public. We welcome you to come attend this incredible opportunity and world class offering to string students in Grand Rapids.
The masterclass will take place April 8th from 4:30pm-6:30pm at Kretschmer Recital Hall at the Aquinas College Art and Music Center followed by a 7:30 public concert at the Recital Hall featuring live performances by ESME and Blake Hinson. The 7:30 performance is free to all attendees at the masterclass. A Q&A session with Blake Hinson will take place at the end of the masterclass.
Donations will be accepted at the masterclass and ESME concert and will go towards funding for the ESME String Camp summer chamber music program held Aug 3-7, 2020 at Aquinas College.
