About
String students can sign up today for free to perform with us on “Carnival of the Animals,” an exciting live concert experience for all ages on Sept. 21 at the John Ball Zoo! Presented as an interactive musical storytelling experience, the show features Project ESME and West Michigan public school students performing ESME arranged selections from Camille Saint-Saens’ “Carnival of the Animals” as well as ESME arrangements of music from How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda and Black Panther at the John Ball Zoo. Special guest ESME artist dancer Sarah Marley of the Grand Rapids Ballet will feature original dance choreography on this concert.

*Students unavailable on any of the above dates can opt instead to rehearse the zoo concert program with us on any of our Howls Moving Castle concert rehearsal dates: 9/11, 13, 16, 19, 23, 25, 26 (check here for full Howl’s Castle rehearsal details: https://bit.ly/Esme-HMC). Students wishing to rehearse on any of these dates must indicate so on their online registration.
*Students who are already signed up to participate on the Sept 29 Howl's Moving Castle concert but unavailable for the above Zoo rehearsal dates can still participate in the Zoo concert provided that they are present for the Howl's Moving Castle rehearsals.

- Rivertown Crossings Mall Rec Room. The Rec Room is on the first floor, east end of the mall (past Dick's Sporting Goods) on the right corner next to the NYC Barber and Salon shop.

Project ESME is a 501c3 performing arts and arts education non-profit based in Grand Rapids creating community engagement and music education programs in West Michigan that serve students from underserved area schools, low-income households and diverse communities.
Project ESME's programs blend and fuse world class classical training and performance with an eclectic range of popular music genres to create more holistic, accessible and inclusive arts education outreach programs. These projects include community public outreach student performances, such as our "ESME at Celebration Cinema" concert series, neighborhood pop-up performances, summer camps for students, clinics for underserved public school orchestras and after school programs for student orchestra that offer free private and group lessons, workshops and youth training seminars.
